CHAPTER 1
Welcome to Phantasmagoria
It's Sunday 16 October, 9 o'clock and your name is Adrien Delaney. You're moving into the Carnovach mansion with your fiancé Donald Gordon.
Drink your coffee at the kitchen table and get up from the table. Adrien isn't with you at the moment, maybe you'll go and look for him, but first you need to inspect the kitchen.
Move the cursor over the furniture in the kitchen and click on the fridge to treat yourself to a grape. Then go to the sink on the right and drink a glass of water. Then go into the large dining room and examine the fireplace. Look at the picture of the woman above the *fireplace* and then examine the fireplace. Put the *poker* in your pocket here, because you will need it. To the right of the fireplace hangs a large mirror, which you should also take a quick look at.

Take a closer look at the *chest of drawers* to the right of the table. Open the drawer and put the *matches* in your pocket.

Now go to the door on the left of the picture and open it. Switch on the light and examine the carpet. Remove the carpet and pull the bottom flap, but it won't open without the poker. Drag the poker from your inventory onto the hatch and open it.

Great, you've found the cellar. Now try to go down, but you will realise that it is too dark. Aim the matches from your inventory at yourself, light one of them and descend into the cellar. On the stairs, a breeze will blow out your match, but you will find a lamp that you can light with another match to give you light.

Continue down the stairs and examine the wine press on the left-hand side of the screen. A bit creepy but nothing strange at the moment. Then stir up some more dust on the empty wine barrels to the left of the wine press and go further back into the cellar. You will find a dungeon door. Go inside and click on the handcuffs hanging there. Scare yourself and go out again.

Go back into the large cellar section and click on the *hammer* lying on the *floor* and put it in your pocket, because you will need it.

Leave the cellar, close the cellar door (optional) and go back to the large dining room.

There is a door into the garden, if you want, leave the house and inspect the garden but not much is happening here yet, so you can go straight on into the great hall of the mansion.
Examine the vending machine with the fortune teller.
You will find a coin that you can use for the vending machine. Do this and it will give you a message that reads:
‘Evil will walk once more’
Go up the stairs and examine the rooms. In the room to the right of the stairs there are some *tarot cards* on the *chest of drawers* that you should pack.

In the room to the left of the stairs, you should definitely sit down on the bed to get your first vision. Don will then come into the room to calm you down.

Then leave the studio to visit Don in his ‘study’. Try out a few things and then leave.
Go up the stairs to the children's room, find the broken teddy bear and the strange cloud above the cot. Leave the room and continue into the *bedroom* to take the *money* from the *chest of drawers*. Then go to the studio opposite and look at the half-finished painting there.

Now leave the house and take the *car* and drive into town to talk to the *real estate agent* who sold Don the house. Talk to him until he gives you a *key*.

Drive back home. Go into the great hall and examine the passageway to the right of the fireplace. At the end of the corridor is a door that you can open with your new key. Drag the key from your inventory onto the door to open it.

You are now in a kind of *office* Examine the desk to take the letter opener. It is hidden in a *weight*.

Drag it from the inventory to the eye on the bottom right-hand side to examine it. You will now be able to put the letter opener back in your inventory.

Now examine the *chimney*. It has been bricked up, but a brick is missing. Take the *letter opener* from your inventory to remove more bricks and get to the other side.

You are now in a *chapel*. There is a *book* on the altar in the centre that you should definitely read.
Click on the book to start the video sequence and finish the chapter.
CHAPTER 2
Watch the video sequence. You start in the bedroom, but there's not much to investigate here, so you can go straight on to the studio opposite. There you will notice a strange structure on the right-hand side of the studio and the painting has changed slightly.

Go down one floor and go into the small armoury to the right of the stairs and look in the mirror. You realise that strange things are happening behind you.

Now knock on Don's study. He opens the door, but doesn't want to talk to you and turns you away.

You continue downstairs and notice loud music. As you don't know where the music is coming from, you continue to the fortune teller doll. There is another token waiting for you. You insert it and receive your next prophecy:
‘Strangers dwell among you’.
You walk on. There's a bottle of absinthe behind the counter - it's closed and full. Look around some more if you like and then drive into town in the car parked in the driveway in front of the locked barn.

After you have parked your car, do not cross the bridge, but turn left, as there is a house guarded by a large dog.

Now cross the bridge into town and buy a drain cleaner at the supermarket. Speak to the salesman behind the counter. Then stop by the estate agent, give yourself a show, then continue on to antique dealer Lou. Have a chat with her and you will realise that she is a well-meaning fan of yours. You'll be able to ask her about anything Carnovach-related in the future.

Now go back to Carnovach. You will notice that the barn is open. Go inside and examine it. There are pots and plates in front of the fireplace and straw rustling in the stable. While you are examining the cooking area, Don surprises you. Watch the video sequence and go under the stable. Your cat gives you a good scare.

To finish the chapter, go back into the house and give Don the drain cleaner. A video sequence starts. Don is still dismissive and the chapter ends.
CHAPTER 3
The chapter starts in the garden, you've just had a picnic with your fiancé. As you're cleaning up, you notice something strange. Someone is standing behind the tree a few metres away and seems to be watching you.

While examining the tree, you are attacked by Sires, but he doesn't want to hurt you. He has a mental disability and wants your attention. He tells you that he lives with his mother in your barn and that she is in trouble and you need to help.

You follow him inconspicuously and realise that his mother has broken through the ceiling of the horse stable and is now stuck there.

Climb up the ladder onto the roof to help her. Pulling her out with your hands won't help. Take the pitchfork and use it to pull the crane on the right towards you. Put the pitchfork on its side. Click on the lifting crane again to attach it to the nut. After the next video sequence, the nut is free.

During the video sequence you find out that her name is Harriett and that she is a fortune teller. She examines your hand and the lines on it and makes a frightening realisation. Click on them again while they are preparing their meal and then leave the barn.

Go back into the large reception hall of the Carnovach. There's another token for you at the machine with the fortune teller doll. Throw it into the machine to receive your new prediction:
‘Evil is watching you. Look for Friends’
Go to the children's room on the upper floor. Nothing has changed. Leave it and walk up the corridor towards the bathroom. Suddenly you hear the loud crying of a baby coming from the direction of the nursery. Go back and look at the video sequence.

Now examine the bedroom. The laptop is open on the desk. There is a message for you written on the screen. Click on the laptop with the cursor to read it.

Opposite you in the studio, the picture has changed a little again. Look at it if you like and go back to the barn if you haven't found the long *nail* in the hole where Siru's mother was. Take the *hammer* from your inventory and pull the *nail* out of the wood.
Now go back to the upper floor to the locked door opposite the children's room. Drag the nail from your inventory onto the door to open it.

The key falls out of the lock behind the door onto the floor. Use the poker to pull the key towards you. Now you can insert the key into your lap from the right side and unlock the door.
Open the door and go inside. You will come to an empty room with a wood-panelled wall and a door. Continue through the door, it is a little stuck but it can be opened.
There is a book on the chest of drawers that you should definitely examine. Sit on the bed for a moment and then look out of the window. You will notice a greenhouse at the back of the garden. Unfortunately, it is not accessible as there is a chasm cutting off the path.

First, make your way back into town. Click on your car to get there. Go to the *supermarket* and buy a *bone* there. If you go to the very back of the shop, you will find a barrel containing dog bones. Take one and pay for it at the till. Go back over the bridge to the house the dog is guarding.

Take the bone from the inventory and give him the dog. The dog will now look for a place to eat and you can open the yard gate in peace to knock on the door.

A woman opens the door. You ask politely if you can speak to Malcom, but the woman turns you away and closes the door in your face. Knock repeatedly on the door and the woman will open it again. She wants to close the door again immediately, but you ask her not to. Give her the book from your inventory and she will let you see Malcolm to talk to him. Talk to him for as long as you can and then leave his house again.

CHAPTER 4
It begins with a video sequence. You realise that Don is no longer the same.
You start in the bedroom. Go to the studio opposite and look at the picture. Someone has been working on it, but nothing is really recognisable yet.

Go downstairs to the large *entrance hall* and meet Harriet. She wants to know what her daily chores are for today, and you ask her about the greenhouse at the back of the garden plot, but she says you'll have to ask Sirus.

Continue to the machine with the fortune teller doll and insert the token.
‘Keep your secrets to yourself. Trust no one.’
Take the car into town to talk to Malcolm again today, but his wife turns you away unfriendly. Now cross the bridge into town to talk to the antique dealer.

Enter the shop and click on her with the cursor. Lou will tell you that people believe the house is cursed and give you a lot of other information. Talk to her until Lou stops giving you information and then take the *car* back to *Carnovach*.
Drive home again
Next, go to the *garden* and meet Sirus at the woodpile as he torments your cat with a stick. Give him a good beating and then ask him if he can show you the way to the *greenhouse*. Then go further into the garden, at the *crypt* you have to go straight ahead (right side of the screen) to meet Sirus again at the *tree* in front of the *gorge*.

Talk to him and he will knock over the tree so you can walk across the ravine.
Go straight ahead and enter the greenhouse. You will be met by an eerie gust of wind.

On your left is a flower trowel. Pick it up and watch the video sequence. You are deeply disturbed by what you see.

You find yourself at the lookout with the large binoculars, look through them but can't see anything as one lens is missing.
Go back the way you came. On the path *between the greenhouse and the ravine* something shines on the ground. It is the *lens* you are missing. Pick it up and go back to the telescope. Drag the lens from the inventory onto the binoculars to mount it and look through it again. You will notice an undiscovered room in Carnovach.

Go back across the car park. You notice that there must be workmen in the house, because there is another car outside the door.

Meet the workman in the large hall. Switch on the phone. Talk to him and continue upstairs towards the tower room. Halfway up, Don stops you angrily. He has noticed Harriet and is furious.

Now go further up and open the door towards the tower room. Move the cursor to the wooden wall opposite you to examine it. Then take the hammer from your inventory to destroy the wooden wall.

Go through the hole you created and investigate the secret room. Examine the large chest to the left of the picture frames.

Open the chest. There are three things inside. A book, a brooch and a necklace with a picture of a child. Read the book, examine the necklace and add the brooch to your inventory.

Now go back into the Great Hall and meet your jealous Don as he reprimands the craftsman.

CHAPTER 5
It's already dark outside and you start your tour in the bedroom. You look at the open laptop to decipher the message:
*GET OUT DO NOT TRUST* - *GO AND TRUST NO ONE*
Go to the studio
Look at the painting in the studio opposite. It's a little bit more finished. It gives you the creeps but nothing else happens.
Now make your way to the *hidden room in the tower*. You notice that the large *mirror on the right in the picture* looks different than before and you look into it.

Go further down into the *room with the many weapons to the right of the stairs* and look in the *mirror* again.

Then knock on Don's door. He doesn't seem to be there and the door is locked so you can continue straight down the stairs into the large reception hall where Sirus is already waiting for you, all upset. He tells you to come into the barn.

Now go out of the barn and look around the garden. When you arrive at the fountain, take a look inside.

Then go looking for Sirus again, because you suspect that he has done something bad, but you can't find him. You then find yourself in the dining hall. You should also examine the mirror here.

Terrified, you run into the kitchen to regain your wits. Then go back into the reception hall. You will notice that the piano is playing a song, but you can't switch it off.
If you now go back upstairs to the studio, you will notice a change.

There is a *projector* in the centre of the room. Click on it and it will throw a symbol on the wall of the room. You can then examine the wall of the room on which the projector is shining. A secret passage will open which you should now investigate further.

Go through the passage to the lift. You have to crank it yourself to get down. Then go straight on to the next lift and you will arrive on the ground floor. If you continue straight down the corridor, you will arrive in the screening room, which is locked from the reception hall.

The secret door closes behind you, so you cannot leave the room from this side. You will notice the guillotine on the stage. Click on it with the cursor and see what happens.

Now continue into the room on the left. There is a dressing table and a wardrobe. Sit down briefly at the dressing table if you like and then examine the wardrobe. There is a picture hidden in the upper part that you should take a closer look at. You will automatically add it to your inventory as you will need it for later.

Now leave the room and then go to the large door in the projection room to open it. You have to jiggle it a bit, but you can open it.

Your fiancé Don is lying drunk in front of the fireplace, it's hard to miss. Click on him to end the chapter.
CHAPTER 6
You start in the bathroom as you look in the mirror and decide to check on your fiancé Don who has just woken up from his coma sleep in front of the fireplace.

After the video sequence is over, you may first go into the performance hall to look into the showcase on the stage. Then go into the make-up room next door and look in the mirror.

Once you have done this, go back to the reception hall to use the fortune-telling machine. It will give you a new prophecy:
"Evil is here! Find your salvation!"

Afterwards, you can talk to the craftsman and then investigate the barn. You'll meet Harriet and Sirus, who are on their way because strange things are going on.

Go back to the car park and get into your car to talk to Malcom again. Knock on the door and give the woman the picture you found in the wardrobe in the make-up room so that she will let you in.

Make your way back home. In the reception hall you will meet the handyman again who is connecting the phone. Have a chat with him. Finally, he asks you if everything is ok and leaves the property.
This is followed by the video sequence that ends the chapter.
CHAPTER 7
You start in the bedroom. You want to leave the property because you've become afraid. But when you see the picture of you and Don together on the bedside table, you change your mind.
Go downstairs to the great hall and then continue to the make-up room in the theatre or go through the secret passage. On the floor there is Don's smock, which you should take a closer look at. Inside you will find a snowman figure, which you automatically add to your inventory.

You should then examine the chapel a little more closely if you haven't already done so.

If you now click on the right-hand edge of the screen, you can find another secret passage. If you walk through it, you will come to the Carnovach family tomb. There is a rosary on one of the graves, which you should take with you. Continue exploring the tomb if you wish and then leave it the way you came.

You have now collected all the items you need to meet up with Don again. Meet him in the dark room on the first floor and the final spurt can begin.

Here is the sequence of actions you need to take to escape:
Pour the drain cleaner in Don's face
Then run into the children's room and hide behind the door
Take the shard of glass lying on the floor to hurt Don
Go back to the darkroom and pick up the book and fend off Don with the hammer
Go through the secret passage in the studio into the chapel and avoid the dead Cyrus
Hide behind the pillar in the family crypt and knock over the statue when Don is standing underneath it
Quickly go back into the chapel and from there turn left into the theatre
Now hide in the wardrobe in the make-up room and use the poker if Don gets too close.

Quickly go to the secret passage next to the stage and hang from an iron pipe over the abyss
Run on to the locked door. It's a bit stuck but you can manage it

Next, take the brooch from your inventory to prick your finger with it
Next, you need the rosary from your inventory. Drag it onto yourself to repeat the formulas again.
